Current plume simulation codes typically utilize particle-based models that require various assumptions about inter-particle collision dynamics. A new collision dynamics algorithm is implemented based on experimental measurements of ion-atom interactions for xenon. The new collision dynamics model is used to simulate the plume of a 6 kW Hall thruster. The results of this simulation are compared to previous results that do not utilize the new model, and both simulations are subsequently compared to experimental measurements of plasma properties in the plume. Results based on the new collision dynamics model show an improved agreement with experimental data, relative to previous collision models.
