Validation results for a new method for determining the force transmitted from the plume of an electric thruster to an orbital object are presented. The method allows to calculate the force using only the information about the central projection of an object on the plane, which is perpendicular to the plume axis, and is of considerable interest in the context of the tasks of contactless space debris removal. The calculations have been made for the objects of spherical and cylindrical shapes using three different methods and considering various cases of the relative position of the thruster nozzle and the targets. The calculation results have been analyzed and conclusions have been made concerning the feasibility and features of the application of the method for calculation of the transmitted force based on the central projection of an object.
